Today's business community requires
efficient information delivery systems. PowerUp recognizes the importance LANs (Local Area
Networks) and WANs (Wide Area Networks) play in meeting management's needs when operating
in dynamic environments.
Because of the development of high-speed unshielded twisted pair copper cable, known as
"Category 5", traditional architecture including ARCnet, Ethernet and Token Ring
are being replaced.
The current, but diminishing, ge neration of LAN cabling architecture support transmission
speeds rangingfrom about 2.5 MBPS for ARCnet, 10 MBPS for Ethernet, and 16 MBPS for Token
Ring. The up and coming cabling architecture is either high speed variants of existing
ones or new, "ATM"-"ISDN"-"FDDI". The new Category 5
copper-based architecture supports speeds from 20 MBPS for ARCnet Plus to 155 MBPS for
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). The fiber-based architectures, such as, Fiber
Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), support speeds of up to 100 MBPS, for LANs as a high
speedmedium directly to the workstation or as a backbone from closet to closet, for WAN
across a campus or throughout a metropolitan area.
PowerUp's certified technicians are thoroughly trained and experienced in the
installation, termination and certification of the new Category 5 and Fiber Optic
cabling.PowerUp has the technical knowledge and practical experience to help assist your
needs and determine how Category 5 and Fiber Optic cable can best serve your LAN/WAN
integrated system.
All cabling installed by PowerUp meets
N.E.C. code and TSB 67 cabling standards. Testing is completed with a Microtest Penta /
Scanner @ 100 Mhz, and test results can be provided along with cabling documentation.
